鎌田克慈　 KAMATA Katsuji

1977年　東京都三鷹市生まれ
2000年　東北芸術工科大学 芸術学部 美術科 工芸コース卒業
2000年　石川県立輪島漆芸技術研修所きゅう漆科入学
　　　　 塗師・赤木明登氏に師事
2006年　独立し、現在は主に東京で個展を中心に活躍中

Kanshitsu is an old dry lacquer technique used to produce Buddhist statue brought from China in the late 7c to Japan in the Nara period.
KAMATA uses wood molds or ceramic mold, whereas others use plaster to form an item. Then layers of hemp cloth soaked in lacquer were applied over the surface, each layer being left to dry before the next layer was added. The clay mold was then removed. Sometimes he uses wood core at the foot of bowls to make it endure the weight of what on it, but most not, therefore the weight is very airy...It is made with linen. You may not believe lacquer is actually overlaid more than twelve times when you hold his items, but it is true.

1977　Born in Mitaka city, Tokyo.
1995　Entered Tohoku University of Art and Design, Art Department, Comprehensive art course (~2000)
2000~2005 Entered school of lacquer technique of Ishikawa pref. and studied under AKAGI Akito.
2006~ Become independent.
