四方隅切形と四方木瓜形の間のような器形で、窓の中にはそれぞれ「梅に鶯」「水鳥」「柘榴」 「太古岩」「栗」「舟人物」「孟宗」「菊」「沢瀉」「蝸牛」「鳥」「山茶花」「水仙」「牡丹」や「青海波」「七宝繋」 そして数々の幾何学文様などを描いている。額縁かのように吸坂手と言われる銹釉を施している。
どれも古九谷手と言われるものから取材しているものであるが何処をどう取っても魯山人先生の手や 感覚を感じるものであるから誠に不思議である。この手で10客などの作品は美術館に収蔵されている が本作品のような 30 客のものは特別な注文と考えられる。パトロンの一人であったわかもと製薬の 長尾欽弥・よね夫妻の旧蔵品と言われ魯山人先生の代表作の一つとも言える作品である。

The shape of the bowl is somewhere between a corner-cut shape and a Japanese quince shape at the four sides. Each window is decorated with a bush warbler on plum tree, waterfowl, boxwood, ancient rock, chestnut, man on a boat, a man with filial piety story from Chinese Buddhist and Taoist ethics, chrysanthemum, Sagittaria trifolia, cochlea, birds, wild flowers, daffodil, peony, blue sea wave, cloisonné, and various geometric patterns. They are all painted with rust glaze called “Suisaka-de” as if they were picture frames. All of them are based on the old Kutani technique, but no matter how you look at them, you can feel Rosanjin’s hand and sense. There are a set of 10 plates in Suisaka-de in some museum collections, but a set of 30 like this is considered to have made by a special order. It is said that this work is from the former collection of NAGAO Kinya and Yone of Wakamato Pharmaceutical, one of his patrons, and is one of Rosanjin’s representative works.
