Container, "Boat for Fish", Ying-qing glaze (pale blue glaze) 影青 魚ノ舟

焼締め風の陶による作品が代表的な治先生ですが、転居を機に自宅で還元焔焼成のできる窯を持ったことにより、1970年代から青白磁(影青 いんちん)を制作しはじめた。
影青とは、素地に彫り模様などを施した凹みの部分に釉薬がたまり、より青く見えることが由来。

本作品は舟のような形の三角柱の香合の上に、水を切って泳ぎ出しそうな魚が乗っている。
極々シンプルな香合の作りに対し、お魚には小さな目や鱗に至るまで細やかに作られており、フラットな面に乗る透き通るような青と、小さな凹凸の上に乗る青の濃淡の美しさが際立ち愉しめる。

SUZUKI Osamu, known for his works in unglazed ceramics, began creating celadon (Yingqing) ware in the 1970s after installing a reduction kiln at his new home. "Yingqing" refers to a technique where the glaze pools in the carved or recessed areas of the base material, giving these parts a deeper blue appearance.

This particular piece is an incense container shaped like a triangular prism resembling a boat, with a fish poised on top as if about to swim away. While the incense container itself is quite simple in design, the fish is crafted with intricate details down to its small eyes and scales. The contrast between the transparent blue glaze on the flat surface and the varying shades of blue on the small raised details highlights its beauty and offers a delightful experience.
