Exhibition 【唐津　矢野直人展】 Exhibition of Yano Naoto

名護屋城跡からさほど遠くない、ここちよい港からの風を感じられるところに矢野の殿山窯がある。
工房の一端には、大量の土や釉薬が積まれている。
それらの素材は、自らが山で掘りあて、選んだもの。
唐津の特徴ともいえる素朴で味わいのある作風は、今では、しっかりと個性が刻み込まれてきている。
斑唐津、朝鮮唐津、山瀬、そして、唐津の源流である朝鮮高麗風の作品。
次世代の重責を担うであろう彼の思いの先が、
古唐津と現代唐津の狭間で、どのようなものに表現されていくのか。面白いところである。

1994年　5年間アメリカ留学
2002年　佐賀県立有田窯業大学校卒業
2003年　佐賀県立有田窯業大学校嘱託講師
2004年　自宅　殿山窯(唐津市鎮西町名古屋)にて作陶始める
2008年　韓国　蔚山にて6ヵ月作陶

The Tonoyama Kiln of Naoto Yano is near the historic site of Nagoya Castle ruin where you can feel the comfortable wind from the harbor. There is tons of the materials for clay and glaze at the corner of his studio, which he digs and selected by himself. Simple and tangible feeling of his works is of traditional Karatsu style, but now you can find out he has established his characteristics and add to the traditional style. He makes Madara-karatsu, Chosen-karatsu, Yamase, and Korean style that is the original resource of Karatsu,
It is interesting to look at how and what his expression will be in between the past and present Karatsu, as one of the most promised potters to lead next generations to come .

[Biography]
Born in Saga in 1976. He went to the U.S.A in 1994 and studied there for five years. He graduated from Arita College of Ceramics in 2002. After that he worked at the college as a lecturer. He has been making ceramics at his own kiln, Tonoyama-gama since 2004. In 2008, he made ceramics for six month in Ulsan, Korea. He has been holding solo exhibitions and joined group exhibitions in various places.
He held his first individual exhibition at Shibuya Kurodatoen in 2014.
