Water Container, Bizen, Hidasuki 備前緋襷平水指

陶陽先生が窯の改良、焼成方法の研究と共に、何よりも大切にしていたのが土作りである。
茶陶を制作する際には古備前の土味を求め上質な田土を探し、水簸や篩にかけず丹念に小石を手で取り除き、しっかりと練り込み時間をかけて寝かせていた。
胡麻をかけない火襷の作品ではその土味を十分に堪能できる。
大振りな平水指だが、上部を多少四方に歪めることで焼成前の土の柔らかさを思い起こさせるようでもある。所々にある石ハゼがアクセントとなり、底の火襷も鮮やかである。
底部に「ト」の彫印。自信作に記したとされる「壷心庵」の箱書である。

He regarded making clay is one of the most important things, along with improvement of his kiln construction and firing techniques. When making items for tea ceremony he searched for high quality mud of rice fields, expecting the equal quality of old Bizen. Then he picked small stones by hand, without using any water elutriation or sieve, and kneaded the clay and let it matured by aging.
The size is rather big, but it has warm and gentle atmosphere of clay by distorting. The popping out stones, scarlet kiln changes on the back are fun to see. There is his inscription “ト”, and “壷心庵”, of which only shown on his confident.
