Chawan, Shino 志野茶碗

桃山志野の古窯址を発掘したことをきっかけに、ついには桃山志野を越え「豊藏志野」を体現された。土は百草土を水簸せず使い、志野釉は地元隠居山の長石を水車の力で臼をついて使う。釉がたっぷりと大胆に施され、釉のちぢれが全体で見受けられる。堂々たる大ぶりな茶碗に、そのまま残した指の跡や、高台の輪型のハマコロの跡もまた景色として映える。高台脇に「斗」の彫銘がある。

The excavation of Shino ware from the old kilns of Momoyama era led Toyozo to create “Toyozo Shino” going beyond the old Momoyama style. He used Mogusa-clay without levigating, and Shino glaze he made from feldspar brought from Inkyo yama mountain in his hometown and ground with water wheel. Glazed thick, you can see shrinks over the item. The finger marks left as it was, and unglazed circle area where chawan was overlaid when firing, make interesting scenery. There is an engraved inscription “斗” by the foot.
