Painting on glass "Hand" 硝子絵　手

硝子絵は描く手順が紙やキャンパスと逆になるため描き直しがしにくい。
しかし絵の具そのものが空気に触れないことから汚れず、乱反射しないためいつでも潤いある発色が保たれる。
この作品は芹澤先生の硝子絵の中では最小のものではないかと思われる。
親指を赤、他の指は黄色、掌は緑で描かれて仏像の印相を思わせるような手となっている。
最後に背景の白を塗ったあとに金を塗って「ＫＳ」と彫ったのであろうかサインの部分からは金が見えている。

This glass art is called “Reverse painting,” which is painted and then viewed the image by turning the glass over, looking through the glass at the image. Since the painting order must be in reverse order of when painting on paper canvas, you need to be very strict not to make a mistake. The merits are long lasting colors and its non-diffused reflection effect, since the media has not been exposed to air.
This item may be the smallest work made by SERIZAWA Keisuke. The hand with red thumb, yellow fingers and green palm suggests the symbolic hands of Buddha to our minds.
He might have painted the white as a background color then added gold on it, as we can see the gold slightly from the scratched sign of the artist: KS.
