Vessel, Brown glaze, Heishi shape 飴釉窯変瓶子

昭和34年に発覚した永仁の壷事件は多くの人を巻き込んだ日本陶芸史の一大事件であった。若き日の習作に永仁銘を入れられ、鎌倉時代の古瀬戸として重要文化財に指定され、その後解除された。嶺男先生の複雑な胸中は推し量れない。昭和 38 年には、嶺男先生が世間に語りたいことを自分のいまの仕 事で示すことで果たそうと、昭和 35 年から約三年かけて制作した瓶子の連作 30 点を展示会で 発表した。本作品は昭和 46 年に日本橋高島屋で発表された作品である。紐作りにて引き上げられ、ヘラなどを使い円相のような劃画文や凹凸を表した。陶肌はまるで土の層のような表情を見せている。その凹凸やヒビや文様に飴釉が染み入り、複雑な濃淡の釉色となっている。

The Einin no Tsubo Scandal, which came to light in 1959, was probably the greatest potting scandal in the history of Japanese ceramics, involving many people. It was designated as an important cultural property as an ancient Seto of the Kamakura period and was later removed. It is hard to imagine the complicated feelings of Mineo. In 1963, in order to fulfill what he wanted to tell the world through his current work, he presented a series of 30 vase works at an exhibition that he had created over three years from 1960. This artwork was presented at the Takashimaya Department Store in Nihonbashi in 1971. The ceramic surface shows an expression like a layer of soil. The surface of the pottery looks like a layer of clay, and the candy glaze seeps into the unevenness, cracks, and patterns, creating a complex shade of glaze color.
