灰釉ぐい呑 Guinomi, Ash Glaze

穏やかな利休茶色に変化した灰釉のぐい呑。
窯の中の強い炎を思い起こさせる素地の亀裂(窯キズ)の上に灰釉が掛かることで作品が一体となって大きな力感を与える。
見込みに溜まったガラス質に変化した深い鶯色も大変美しい。
大振りのぐい呑は、嶺男瓶子の連作を思わせる釉調や陶肌を持ち、ほとんど数がない大変に珍しい作品。
高台内には「嶺」のくずし字の彫印。
高台脇には釉薬の調合の印である「△」のサインが記されている。

Guinomi with the color of ash glaze, light brown color called Rikyu cha, shows the moderate feeling.
The clay and glaze are unified by its scar-like natural alternation during kiln process, creating powerful and effective view point. The olive-green color of glassy glaze is also beautiful.
The big sized Guinomi has some of similarity with the Mineo Vase in its glaze and the skin, which is seen very rare.
There are his inscription “嶺” and “△”, in running form, and the mark that indicates his glaze prescription.
