1940年 東京都に生まれる1950年 父、二代瓢阿に竹芸の指導を受け始める
1960年 漆塗の赤地友哉(1974年無形文化財保持者に認定)に入門(1984年まで)
1963年 東京藝術大学漆芸科卒業 棗の形態や時代研究を始める
1965年 蒔絵の時代研究のため松田権六に師事
名物裂、更紗、日本の染織品の蒐集研究を始める
1971年 日本橋三越本店にて｢池田瓢阿・巖 籠と漆の父子展」開催
1974年 東京国立博物館にて国宝の修復に従事
1991年 作品集『The Work of Iwao Ikeda』制作
1992年 ヴイクトリア＆アルバート美術館(イギリス)に竹茶器が収蔵される
2008年 菊池寛実記念智美術館にて個展開催
2009年 作品集『Ikeda Iwao 1960-2008』制作
2012年 東京都近代美術館工芸館「現代の座標 工芸をめぐる11の思考」出品
菊池寛実記念 智美術館「茶の湯の現代：用と形」出品、優秀賞受賞
2013年 ドイツ・ベルリン国立東洋美術館にて個展「池田巌 竹／漆」
2014年 ドイツ・Museum of Lacquer Artにて個展「池田巌 竹／漆」

1950 Started to learn Bamboo crafts under his father IKEDA Hyoa II
1960 Became apprentice of AKAJI Yusai, who was a living national treasure
1963 Graduated from Tokyo University of Arts, majoring in Lacquer. Started to research on history of Natsume.
1965 Became an apprentice of MATSUDA Gonroku to study Makie.
Start to collect famed fabrics, Dyeing Cotton, and Japanese traditional dyeing clothes
1971 Held an exhibition with his father Ikeda Hyoa at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Department
1974 Did a repair of National Treasure at National Museum of Tokyo
1991 Published "The Work of Iwao Ikeda"
1992 A bamboo tea caddy was stored in the Victoria &Albert Museum
2008 Held his solo exhibition at the Musee Tomo
2006 Published "Ikeda Iwao 1960-2008"
2013 Held solo Exhibition at Museum fur Ostasiatische Kunst, Berlin, Germany
2014 Held solo Exhibition at Museum of Lacquer Art, Germany
